The Missionary Journal of O. Rudeen Allred

Rutena kept a daily Journal as a missionary in the Society Islands (Tahiti) and the Tuamotu Archipelago from 1938 to 1940. It is a fascinating and detailed view of life in the unspoiled South Sea Islands.

The journal is transcribed exactly as he wrote it, illustrated with Rutena’s artistic photographs and drawings, and divided into separate sections for each island:
